I would say that Diatomaceous Earth has a dual purpose, certainly for me in any case.
When first ingested, a small amount of Diatomaceous Earth gets absorbed into the blood stream as silica. Silica plays an important role in many body functions and has a direct relationship to mineral absorption. It is generally reported that this is good for your Hair, Nails, Skin and Bones.
At molecular level they say that DE has a negative charge which pulls in toxins as it moves through your digestive system to be eliminated from the bowels.
How do I take it?
In a 250ml glass I add up to a tablespoon of DE.
Some people suggest to take from 1 teaspoon up to a tablespoon. I am comfortable with the tablespoon but if you get a bloated feeling its probably best to reduce the amount.
I always drink it first thing in the morning with my vitamin routine and tend not to eat anything for breakfast as I'm not hungry. I do take other things, like a glass of Turmeric and an Apple & Ginger shot, so I guess with all that liquid that's why I'm not hungry. I'll follow up a bit later with a mug of tea or coffee or maybe go out for a small coffee in a local bar, but I'm not usually hungry until later in the afternoon.
It's a kind of chalky texture but it doesn't have any flavour. I just gulp it down.
Its worth pointing out at this stage that its a good idea to drink plenty of liquid during the day which will compensate for the drying nature of the DE but also helps in general.
I have been taking it since 2014 and honestly feel that it works fantastically for me, not just with hair and skin etc, but more internally.
I have read many favourable testimonials over the years from people with IBS, Crohns Disease, Diverticulitis, Eczema and other Skin and Joint problems. But, don't take my word for you, please do your research.
